Here we try to answer a selection of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) below, which we hope you will find useful. Do you provide free estimates?
For house rewires, new installs & alterations, I will provide you with a free estimate. Emergency

call outs, repairs & faults will be charged per hour plus materials. This will always be highlighted before I visit.

What area do you cover?
From Glasgow to Edinburgh, pretty much the central belt, covering West Lothian, East Lothian & Fife.

Are you a qualified Electrician?
Yes, trained & City & Guilds qualified to current Electrical wiring regulations BS7671:2018

Are you insured?
Yes, I have £5Million public liability insurance.

Is your work guaranteed?
All my work comes with a year warranty on parts & labour. As an approved member of Select my work is regularly assessed by Select

How long do I have to wait for an Electrician?
Once I have received a call or enquiry via my website. Will contact you to arrange a suitable time for a visit, in an emergency will try to attend ASAP

Will I wait all day for an Electrician to attend?
I will give you an AM or PM appointment & will call you ahead of the scheduled appointment to confirm our arrival time.

What are your prices?
I have set prices for particular jobs, for example: EICRs, PAT tests, Nest thermostats, Ring doorbell installs etc. Would be more than happy to discuss any jobs, which may require a site visit, to give a price.

What is a RCD & how it does work?
RCD is a safety device used primarily to protect humans against electrical shocks & fires. RCD works quickly by tripping when an imbalance of current is detected between the Live & Neutral wires supplying a circuit or an individual Item of equipment or a low earth leakage current greater than the pre-set limit of the RCD (usually 30mA)

RCD on my consumer unit continually tripping
Likely cause of a RCD tripping can be a faulty appliance such as a tumble dryer, Iron, Oven, freezer, toaster, kettle & even a phone charger. Try unplugging each Item/appliance in turn till RCD stops tripping. If RCD continues to trip call a professional Electrician

DO you provide electrical certificate on completion of new installs
Yes, all work is inspected & tested. Electrical Certificate will be issued on completion of works

Why do I need a landlord Electrical safety report- Electrical Condition Report (EICR)
As a Landlord you must ensure your property is safe for rental & your electrical system complies with current wiring regulations. You have a responsibility for your tenants’ safety. EICR will be carried out to check for any damage & wear & tear that might affect the safety of your electrical system & ensure no actual harm to your tenant from faulty wiring.
